The cost to battle one virtual charter school in 18 Illinois school districts is exorbitant–more than $320,000. Legislators say they want time to study virtual (aka online) charters. All they have to do is look at places like Colorado and Pennsylvania. Why would anyone want to put children in front of a computer for an entire school day when high quality, face-to-face teaching is an essential component of an excellent education?
